Còn theo Bộ quốc phòng Nga thì một BMD-4 mạnh bằng 5 BMP-3 vì có thép bảo vệ tốt hơn-lại lội nước và tháp pháo lại là loại đa năng tự động và riêng biệt....Trên tháp pháo lộ rõ hai ụ -Theo mình một là quan sát điện tử quang học , hai là điều khiển tia la-zer cho đạn tên lửa.....

KBP Instrument Design Bureau has developed combat weapons and military hardware for more than three quarters of a century. The number of weapon samples introduced into service during this period is near 150. On New Year''s Eve the Russian Army received one more gift from KBP: on 31 December the Government of the Russian Federation issued a decree of introduction into service of a BMD-4 airborne combat vehicle with a unified fighting compartment for lightweight vehicles.
This news has aroused intense interest of mass media. News agencies, printed-word and electronic media unanimously note the high level of performances and combat capabilities of the new airborne combat vehicle. But the information given by mass media is not always accurate.
The BMD-4 development was based on subassemblies of the BMD-3 chassis and was carried out within the framework of KBP''s modernization programme of the BMD-3. However the BMD-4 fundamentally differs from its predecessors. The BMD-4 features a state-of-the-art fire control system incorporating latest scientific and technical achievements, as well as a powerful weapon system. It is capable of operating in mountains at altitudes of up to 4,000 m, changing clearance by 400 millimetres, floating in Sea State 3 and landing from an aircraft together with the crew. So this vehicle is unrivalled in the world.
On the basis of the structural layout of the BMP-3 fighting compartment the designers have changed the shape of the armoured aluminum turret. The main weapon includes a 100mm 2A70 gun-launcher, which fires both HEF shells and 3UBK23-3 rounds with 9M117M1-3 Arkan guided missiles of the same calibre. The loading system is common, and loading is carried out in the automatic mode. This significantly simplifies the crew''s work. The ammunition load of 100mm rounds is 34 with HEF shells and 4 with guided missiles. The main weapon also includes a 30mm 2A72 automatic gun and a 7.62mm machine-gun.
The BMD-4 is also equipped with three-barrel smoke grenade launchers mounted on both sides of the turret. Crew''s personal weapon includes 5.45mm assault rifles and a machine-gun, antitank grenades and other armament.
The unified round-the-clock automatic fire control system of the BMD-4 comprises gunner''s and commander''s sights with laser and thermal imaging channels, which enable firing by day and at night under con***ions of natural and other interference, a TV/thermal target autotracker and other navigation equipment. The BMD-4 can fire at various ground and air targets from stationary positions, on the move and afloat both from direct and indirect fire positions.
The performances of the new airborne combat vehicle significantly surpass the characteristics of the standard BMD-3. The 100mm round with the HEF shell defeats manpower, mechanized means, buildings and other targets at ranges of up to 7,000 m.
The Arkan guided missile is capable of defeating heavily armoured or otherwise protected critical targets by high-precision fire at ranges of up to 5,500 m. Targets, which have passed through the two previous lines, are engaged by shells of the 30mm automatic gun at ranges of up to 4,000 m. Personal weapon of the BMD-4 crewmembers is used at closest ranges. Thus the enemy can be totally defeated.
Mass media gives different expert judgements of peculiarities and firepower of the new vehicle. For example, according to the Novosti news agency the defence minister Sergey Ivanov described the vehicle as a "tracked, armoured, amphibious, airborne landing" one. He also emphasized that "the superiority of the BMD-4 is five times greater as compared with the BMD-3. One BMD-4 substitutes for five earlier airborne combat vehicles." One thing is without doubt - the BMD-4 broadens combat application of airborne combat vehicles and enables landing forces to fulfill a lot of missions without support of tanks and artillery both during attack and defence.
The new fighting compartment can be mounted on various current and future Russian and foreign light combat vehicles.
For the first time the BMD-4 was demonstrated at the IDELF-2004 exhibition in Moscow in September 2004. First BMD-4 vehicles will enter service with the Russian airborne forces in 2005.

The BMD-3M vehicle is equipped with a new universal
fighting compartment installed on the modified BMD-3
vehicle chassis.
The BMD-3M vehicle armament system comprises a
100mm gun-launcher with an autoloader of guided and
unguided HEF artillery projectiles, a 30mm automatic
gun firing HEFI, APT and APDS projectiles, a 7.62mm
machine gun and a modern fire control system with
gunner?Ts integrated day/night sight, commander?Ts
panoramic TV sight, digital computer, tracker and
means to automatically prepare data for firing at unobserved
targets.
The BMD-3M vehicle armament ensures stationary,
mobile and afloat fire and defeat of modern tanks at a
range of up to 5,500 m, unsheltered and entrenched
manpower and fortifications at a range of up to 7,000
m, including unobserved, antiarmor-capable and other
pinpoint targets as well as aircraft and helicopters at a
range of up to 4,000 m
