Col. Juvymax Uy, command of Joint Task Force Basilan, identified the victim as Hoang Vo, a crew member of MV Royal 16. He was abducted by the Abu Sayyaf on southeast of Sibago Island in Basilan on November 11, 2016. He said Vo was rescued by troops at the Sumisip-Ungkaya Pukan Complex, following an airstrike against the group of Furudji Indama in Basilan around 8:30 a.m., June 16. He said the Abu Sayyaf members dispersed due to the airstrike and artillery fire. The victim who sustained a wound on his back was immediately given medical attention and is currently in stable con***ion. "We continually put pressure to these remaining ban***s in order to force them *****rrender or release their victims,” Uy said. The Abu Sayyaf is still holding 26 captives, 21 of whom are in Sulu and five of whom are in Basilan. Uy said Vo was held, along with five other Vietnamese citizen, by the Basilan-based ban***s.
