@ Hadop: My saying is often as curved as a banana, isnt it? But my banana is straight this time. Xman and you can save your topic to April if you want. Long long and I can act as 911 with the proposed topic "Oncology".
@ Long long: I will attend a wedding at 11, too. We will start early at 8:00 and leave at 10:30. Feel free to choose another topic that you love. Dont care whether I will love it or not since it is certain that I love you.
@ All: Then the workshop will be held this evening. 18:30 if you wanna have dinner. We will start at 19:00. Carry your usb along.

Tra***ional, super markets vie for customers
    by Du Van Nga
Around 97 per cent of tra***ional markets are still up and running, despite the hot competition of modern supermarkets, announced the Ministry of Trade.
I?Tm not quite sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, considering my feelings towards the muddy vegetable stalls and reeking seafood stalls, all crammed into the stuffy atmosphere of tra***ional markets.
In contrast to the haphazard set-ups, deceitful salesman and complete lack of hygiene in some tra***ional markets, supermarkets provide a cool and bright setting, helped along by air-con***ioners and neon lights, together with the sweet smell of packaged items.
In ad***ion to the atmosphere, modern supermarkets conveniently offer nearly everything you need, from vegetables, meats to pans, cookers, soap and other items.
Adding to the atmosphere are the pleasant attitudes of the shopkeepers, cashiers and other staff. They are happy to answer any question and help me with anything I need.
Most supermarkets even express their gratitude for my business, with extra services such as discount cards for potential customers and gift draws.
Phan Lan Huong, an official in a commercial bank, agrees with me. "I have never hated tra***ional markets because I used them for so long before I went back to work, but now I consider my time as precious as gold."
"I save time by finding everything all in one spot, yoghurts for myself, cooking tools for my mother, lovely clothes for my little daughter, even singlets for my husband," Huong said.
"I care not only about saving time, but also about the quality of products which come with guarantees stamped by prestigious manufacturers. Price wise, compared to tra***ional markets, prices in modern ones are not much higher."
"Honestly I?Tm embarrassed at all the bad words said while bargaining and arguing with sellers in tra***ional markets. It?Ts quite different at supermarkets," she stressed.
Like Huong, I?Tm also busy with my job at the office, so I don?Tt have time to haggle over each clutch of eggs or kilo of tofu. We put our trust in the fixed prices at supermarkets and don?Tt have to worry about buying goods at an unfair price.
Many Vietnamese, however, disagree. For them bargaining is not a chore, but an interest and a challenge, a game in which they can concede victory or defeat.
"Haggling is a social skill testing customers?T ability to trade. It?Ts a chance for them to interact with society, unlike the silent atmosphere of modern markets," said Nguyen To Hoa, a 24-year old au***or.
"I agree that buying food in the supermarket is secure and convenient, especially in the summer when it can be over 40 degrees Celsius."
"Nevertheless, freezing systems and packaged foods are not as fresh as foods in tra***ional markets. They can be soaked in preservatives to keep for a long time," she said.
Hoa confided to me that shê?Ts worried about the encroachment of big supermarkets on tra***ional ones, slowly swallowing Vietnamese culture.
Hoa, as well as foreigners arriving in Viet Nam, may agree that a part of Vietnamese culture would be lost with the disappearance of tra***ional markets.
"I like going to the tra***ional market with my wife on the weekend to hear the bustling sounds after hours of hard work. It?Ts a specific characteristic of Vietnamese culture," said Mark Collins, a British businessman who has lived in Viet Nam for nine years.
"I prefer seeing a wriggling fish in a basin over a dull frozen fish in the freezer of the supermarket. I think Vietnamese should not replace them so quickly."
After speaking with a few people, I began to realise the importance of tra***ional markets in our country. Despite the advantages of supermarkets, tra***ional ones are a place to remember the tra***ions of our ancestors as a part of our daily modern lives. ?" VNS

@ Hadopro: Thank you for the useful information given above, I''m pretty sure that we''ll have a very interesting offline this Sunday!
@ Mr. Ducky and all: Should we prepare more careful for the Tech-Exchanged Meeting? As far as I know, we need more than 1 day to study UleadPro so that the meeting may last longer. Shall we draw a plan for that event?.
