English Presentation Competition Proposal

English Presentation Competition is organized by Saigon campus RMIT English club. It aims to encourage students to practice English through improve their presentation skills. It also introduces a new playground for students from RMIT Vietnam and different universities can make friends and share common interest in English Competition

PURPOSE
Main purposes of this activity are:
- Encourage students to practice English and also help them to improve their presentation skills.
- Improve and accumulate social knowledge.
- Introduce a new place where RMIT students can meet students from other universities to make friends and share common interest in English presentation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT

This is a presentation competition organized by RMIT Vietnam English Clubâ?Ts members, for every student of RMIT Vietnam and Vietnamese universities

Requirements for candidates:

- Any university student can join this competition
- Students must form a team to join this activity. Each time has maximum 5 members and at least 3 members.
- A team will choose one out of five topics.
- Registration fee: VND 50,000/team

Board of Examiners: there are three people: one English teacher of RMIT Vietnam, one Study Skills teacher of RMIT Vietnam, and one English lecturer from famous language centre.

There are three rounds:
- Round 1: There will be five topics, including five aspects: Education, Society, Economics, Environment and Government which team can choose one for their presentation (the five topics will be public on November 20, 2008). Teams will submit RMIT English Club their Presentationâ?Ts outline first and two English teacher of RMIT University will choose ten teams for round 2.

- Round 2: Teams will present their topic in 8 minutes plus 2 minutes for question and answer. Board of Examiners will choose five teams who are the best at the presentation skills for the final round.

- Round 3: This round has no limit on the topics that are in the five fields: Education, Society, Economics, Environment and Government. A team will have 15 minutes to present. After the presentation part, the Board of Examiners and audiences can ask questions to the candidates.

- Candidates who get in to round 2 and 3 can use PowerPoint and visual aid to present

Marking:

The marking will base on three aspects: presentation skills, content and visual aid design. The marking guide will be provided by the English department of RMIT Vietnam University

Awards:
- First Prize: VND 2 million and souvenir gifts
- Second Prize: VND 1.5 million and souvenir gifts
- Third Prize: VND 1 million and souvenir gifts
- Audience Prize: VND 500,000 and souvenir gifts
